Padma Shri is the fourth highest civilian award in the Republic of India, after the Bharat Ratna, the Padma Vibhushan and the Padma Bhushan. It is awarded by the Government of India. Sehwag was amongst the few sportsmen to receive Padma Shri as he was the first Indian to hit two triple centuries in Tests.
The Wisden Leading Cricketer in the World award was introduced in 2004 to complement the long- standing Wisden Cricketer of the Year awards, which are still given to five players each year.
The Arjuna Awards were instituted in 1961 by the Government of India to recognize outstanding achievement in National sports. Sehwag is the 36th Indian cricketer to receive this award.
